The Minnesota Wilderness begin the process of determining its 2022-23 roster Tuesday when it opens its main training camp.

135 players are expected to attend the 3-day event, which will conclude Thursday with an all-star game.  All camp activities will be held at Northwoods Credit Union Arena in Cloquet.  Camp participants will be divided into six teams that will play each other in a round-robin format.  Each team will play twice on Tuesday and Wednesday.  The Wilderness coaches will decide who among those six teams will advance to be on the two all-star game squads, and then use the all-star game to determine who will be invited to the season-opening training camp later this summer.  All NAHL teams must have rosters reduced to 25 players by September 1.

The team is expecting several returnees from the 2021-22 squad to attend the camp. That team advanced to the 2nd round of the North American Hockey League playoffs for the 4th time in team history and first since 2017.

Also invited are the 11 players Minnesota selected in the NAHL Draft held on June 15th along with nine others tendered for the upcoming season.

The public is invited to attend at no charge.  Games begin at 10 a.m. on both Tuesday and Wednesday, and will continue throughout both days with the last contest scheduled for 7:45 p.m.  Puck drop for Thursday’s all-star game is set for 11 a.m.

2022-23 will mark the Wilderness’ 10th campaign in the NAHL.  Game 1 will be September 9, at home, vs. Fairbanks.
