The Minnesota Wilderness did everything but score in its NAHL Showcase contest vs. the St. Cloud Norsemen
Saturday night.
Minnesota outshot St. Cloud 33-30, but were shutout on the scoreboard, as the Norsemen won, 3-0.
It is the first time in 100 games that an opponent held Minnesota scoreless in a regular season or post-season
game – a streak that began on January 17, 2025.
St. Cloud goaltender Carter Gardocki turned aside every Wilderness shot. He was especially sharp in the final two
periods when Minnesota had a 24-11 shot advantage.
The Norsemen (1-4-0) scored all three of their goals in the first period. Daylin Cline, Samuel Misak and Mate Tardi
struck over the game’s first 11:40 to give St. Cloud a lead it would never relinquish.
Tardi’s goal came on a power play, as the Norsemen finished 1-for-6 with the man-advantage. Minnesota went 0-
for-4 and was held scoreless on the power play for the first time this season.
Minnesota (3-2-0) netminder Oliver Kanat stopped 27 St. Cloud shots in his first start of the regular season.
The loss closes the Wilderness’ schedule in this season’s NAHL Showcase as the squad went 1-2 over the three
games.
The Wilderness next heads to Alaska for its next five games. Minnesota will kick off its first trip to the 49 th state
with a series at Kenai River Oct. 2 and 3.
