Janzig Jams in League Award

Mar 19, 2024

A 4-point weekend in Anchorage was enough to send some league hardware to Beau Janzig.

The NAHL today announced the 20-year old defenseman is the Bauer Hockey Midwest Division Star of the Week for the week ending March 17.

Below is the release from NAHL Communications:

Minnesota defenseman Beau Janzig helped in the Wilderness weekend split on the road in Anchorage, where the team picked up two points. The Hermantown, MN native started the weekend off strong by adding a goal and two assists. In the following contest, Janzig added an assist in the Wilderness shootout victory. In his third season in the NAHL, the Air Force Academy commit has played in 46 games this season where he has combined for 26 points. “Beau is obviously a huge part of our team as a leader and as a player,” Head Coach Colten St. Clair said. “He earned the star of the week because of his game management and making the plays that are available. He is playing big minutes against the other team’s best players and has done a great job with that.”

This is the fourth week the Wilderness has had a player recognized as a star of the week in 2022-23, and Janzig is the first skater to win the award this season. Goaltenders Nick Erickson and Adam Prokop earned the previous honors with Erickson claiming the award twice.

Ren Morque was also recognized for his effort last weekend vs. Anchorage. The defenseman from Grand Rapids, MN, — who is also headed to play at Air Force Academy, recorded three points (1 goal/2 assists) in the 2-game set, and was named an honorable mention for Star of the Week.

The Wilderness has one more weekend of games in its final Alaska trip of the 2022-23 season. Minnesota visits Kenai River this Friday and Saturday to take on the Kenai River Brown Bears.
