Erickson Earns 2nd SOW

Feb 13, 2024

Another league honor has landed in Nick Erickson’s glove.

The NAHL today awarded the Minnesota Wilderness goaltender with the Bauer Hockey Midwest Division Star of the Week for his performance last weekend vs. Kenai River

Below is the release from NAHL Communications:

Wilderness netminder Nick Erickson stood tall between the pipes picking up back-to-back wins against the Kenai River Brown Bears. Erickson, a native of Apple Valley, MN, started the weekend with a 25 shot shutout win. Saturday night saw an overtime game where Erickson stopped 30 shots and the Wilderness were victorious, 3-2. Nick has played in 19 games this season where he has a record of 11-7, a 2.14 GAA and a .932 SV%. “As a team we are very proud of Nick earning the award for star of the week,” Head Coach Colten St. Clair said. “He has gone through a lot of adversity in his young career and throughout the last couple of months we have seen tremendous growth in his maturity as a person and as a player. This just shows the strides he is taking throughout the process.”

Erickson also has five shutouts, which places him in a tie for the league lead. As a team, Minnesota has blanked opponents eight times, which puts it into a 3-way tie for tops in the NAHL.

This is the third time this season a Wilderness player has earned a star of the week award. Goaltender Adam Prokop won the award for the week ending Nov. 19.

Forward Nate Murray was also recognized for his work vs. Kenai River Feb. 9-10. Murray earned an honorable mention for Star of the Week for generating three points (2 goals—including Saturday’s OT game-winner — and 1 assist) over the 2-game weekend series.

The Wilderness takes on the Springfield Jr. Blues this weekend in a two-game series in Springfield, IL.
