CLOQUET, MN – The Minnesota Wilderness had another packed weekend of NAHL hockey with three back to back games over the weekend. This time, all games were played in Minnesota, against Minnesota based teams.
Thursday night, the Wilderness battled Austin on home ice in Cloquet, MN. #19 Kimball Johnson and Asst. Captain #8 Nate Horn netted goals in regulation time against the Bruins for a tie. With no goals in overtime, the teams ended the weekday night with a shoot out.
Wilderness netminder, #1 Kaleb Johnson shut out the Bruins attempts in the shoot out. #6 Zach Michaelis ended the game in favor of the Wilderness, scoring the only shoot out goal of the night.
The following night, the Wilderness traveled to St. Cloud, MN to face the newly placed NAHL Blizzard. It was a tough game and the Wilderness put up a whopping five goals from #10 Nick Portz, #22 Bram Sheerer, #2 Blake Holmes, #11 Nathan Adrian, and #18 Tyler Watkins came out of the game with 4 points [1 goal, 3 assists], but it was not enough to defeat the Blizzard. The Wilderness fell 6-5 on Friday, Oct 11th.
Saturday, October 12th, the Wilderness took on the Bruins again, this time on Bruin home ice. #17 Lewis Crosby scored his first goal for the Wilderness. #10 Nick Portz then scored in the 3rd period to put the WIlderness up 2-1. Portz then finished the game by scoring an open netter when the Bruins pulled their goalie.
The Wilderness are back at home in Northwoods Arena on October 18th and 19th for a home series against the Aberdeen Wings. The teams will face off at 7pm CST in Cloquet, MN.
