Wilderness Welcome Garrett Hendrickson to Coaching Staff

Cloquet, Minnesota – Assistant Coach Garrett Hendrickson joins Wilderness for the 2018/19 season.

Hendrickson has gained previous experience as the Assistant Coach with the Minnesota Iron Rangers in the SIJHL. Prior to coaching, Hendrickson played four years of college hockey before graduating from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn., in May 2017.

During his time at Concordia College, Hendrickson accumulated 71 points in 100 career games with the Cobbers. He also served as team captain for the 2016-17 season.

According to head coach Chris Howe of the Concordia Cobbers “Garrett is one of the smartest hockey players I have ever coached.” Coach Howe believes Garrett will do a great job in his new role and will be able to relate very well with the players.

Hendrickson’s Junior Hockey career includes time with the Penticton Vees and the Salmon Arm Silverbacks in the BCHL as well as the Coulee Region Chill of the NAHL.

Before playing Junior Hockey, Hendrickson played high school hockey in Virginia, Minn., for the Blue Devils. Hendrickson was a Mr. Hockey finalist his senior season and is the hockey program’s All Time Leading Scorer. Hendrickson also played three fall seasons in the Minnesota High School Elite League and represented his hometown at two national USA hockey festivals.

Hendrickson is currently the 16th all-time leading point scorer in Minnesota High School Hockey history and was a member of two state high school hockey teams.
