Friday night hat trick, Wilderness now in 2nd in the Central Division

MN Wilderness 3 @ Aberdeen 1 – Wilderness goalie Trevor Micucci made 40 saves and forward Zach Mills scored all three goals as Minnesota picked up a 3-1 win in Aberdeen on Friday night. After a scoreless 1st period, the Wilderness took a 1-0 lead in the 2nd period with a goal from Mills. Early in the 3rd period, Mills scored again to make the score 2-0. The Wings got on the board midway through the 3rd period thanks to a goal from Colton Fletcher, but Mills would complete the hat-trick just two minutes later to make the final 3-1. Forbes Ploszaj made 25 saves in the Wings loss.

MN Wilderness 3 @ Aberdeen 4 (SO) – It took 16 combined players, but the Wings finally outlasted the Wilderness in a shootout to salvage a weekend split. Joey Strada had the shootout winner. The Wings jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 1st period with goals from Zach Noble and Andy Carroll. The Wilderness responded with two goals of their own in the 2nd period to make it 2-2 with tallies from Jesse Farabee and Tim Nicksic. Kevin Fitzgerald and Tim Nicksic traded goals in the 3rd period to tie the game at 3-3. Forbes Ploszaj made 33 saves in the win, while Luke Kania made 31 saves in the loss.
