Wilderness Clinch a Playoff spot but get Swept by the Chill

MN Wilderness 3 @ Coulee Region 6 – Joey Sofo and Nico Luka each had four-point nights as the Chill continued their march towards a playoff spot with a 6-3 home win over the Wilderness. The Chill took a 1-0 lead with a 1st period goal from Alex Falconer. They scored twice more in the 2nd period with goals from Sofo and Dominik Florian and then added three more goals in the 3rd period as Florian scored again, along with goals from Phil Erickson and Larry Jungwirth. The Wilderness got two goals in the 2nd period from Ryan Bloom and Brett Heikkila and had the game tied at 2-2 at one point. Casey Gilling added a 3rd period goal. Hunter Vorva made 36 saves in the win, while Luke Kania made 23 saves in the loss.


MN Wilderness 1 @ Coulee Region 2 (OT) – The Chill picked up a weekend sweep of the Wilderness thanks to some overtime heroics and 23 saves from Hunter Vorva in a 2-1 overtime win. The Wilderness got on the board first early in the 1st period as Ryan Bloom lit the lamp. The Chill wouldn’t tie the game until midway through the 3rd period as Caleb Schroer scored. Early in the overtime Dominik Florian ended the game on the power play, as he one-timed a shot from the high slot that beat Wilderness goalie Chase Munroe. Munroe finished with 33 saves in the overtime loss.


The Wilderness are now 33-18-6 and are in 2nd place with 72 points in the Midwest Division.  The Janesville Jets are right on there heels with 70 points, but the Jets have 5 games remaining and the Wilderness only have 3 games remaining.
