Alumni

The North American Hockey League advances players every season to the next level.  The numbers don’t lie.

In the 2015 – 16 season the NAHL had a record breaking 253 NCAA commitments, 177 of those were to Division I schools. The Minnesota Wilderness is only in it’s fourth season with the NAHL and already they have 23 Alumni who are currently playing Division I Hockey or already have commitments. The Wilderness have an additional five commitments by players who are currently on their roster.

In the 2015 – 16 the NAHL had 74 Division III commitments. The Wilderness currently have 17 alumni who are playing NCAA Division III Hockey.

The Wilderness also have ties with the National Hockey League. Ivan Chukarov, who played for the Wilderness from 2013 – 15,  was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the 7th Round of the 2015 NHL Draft, 182nd overall. Chukarov is currently at University of Massachusetts-Amherst in his Sophomore season.  Kasimir Kaskisuo, who played for the Wilderness in 2014 – 15, signed an Entry Level Contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs after his Sophomore season at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Kaskisuo is currently playing for the Orlando Sun Bears of the East Coast Hockey League.
