The Minnesota Wilderness (28-21-5) were victorious by a score of 4-3 over the Bismarck Bobcats (24-26-4) on Friday night at the VFW Sports Center. Tyler Watkins, who had just finished his high school career for the Hermantown Hawks, opened up the scoring for the Wilderness in the 1st period when he deflected the puck into the net off of a shot from Nick Michel. Ben Ward also assisted on the goal. The Bobcats were able to respond when they capitalized on a power play opportunity at the end of the 1st. Early in the 2nd period, Gino Lucia released a wrist shot that beat the Bobcat goaltender over the shoulder that gave the Wilderness a 2-1 lead. Colin Baird and Andrew Troy assisted on Lucia’s goal. Less than 5 minutes later, Bismarck was able to respond tying the game 2-2. Late in the 2nd period, Garrett Worth, who just finished his high school career for the Duluth East Greyhounds, was able to put a rebound in on the power play. Eric Gotz and Ben Ward assisted on Worth’s goal. The Wilderness had a 3-2 lead going into the 3rd period. The Bobcats were able to once again tie the game early in the 3rd period off a defensive zone breakdown by the Wilderness. 6 minutes later, the Wilderness were able to take advantage on the power play. Garrett Worth found Ash Altmann standing alone in front of the net and he was able to put a shot past the Bobcats goaltender. Ben Ward had his 3rd assist of the game on the goal. Goaltender Ryan Fanti had 26 saves in the victory.
Saturday, March 17: Wilderness 6, Bismarck Bobcats 2

The Minnesota Wilderness were able to sweep the Bismarck Bobcats on Saturday night at the VFW Sports Center by winning 6-2. The Wilderness took a 1-0 lead about halfway through the 1st when Gino Lucia was able to put a puck into the net. Ondrej Trejbal and Eric Gotz assisted on the goal. 13 seconds later, Ryan Nelson, who just finished his high school career for the Cloquet Lumberjacks was able to put a slap shot past the Bobcats goaltender to make it 2-0. Landon Langenbrunner and Isaac Moberg assisted on Nelson’s goal. The Wilderness had a 2-0 lead going into the 1st intermission. The Bobcats were able to get on the board in the 2nd period when they were able to score on a delayed penalty. 28 seconds later, Isaac Moberg was able to make the score 3-1 when he put a rebound in from Landon Langenbrunner’s shot. Nick Michel also assisted on Moberg’s goal. The Bobcats made it 3-2 shortly after Moberg’s goal. Isaac Moberg was able to get his 2nd goal of the game when he able to complete a 2 on 1 with Gino Lucia. Issac Kobienia also assisted on the goal. The Wilderness led 4-2 going into the 2nd intermission. 50 seconds into the 3rd period, Tyler Watkins was able to get his 2nd goal of the weekend giving the Wilderness a 5-2 lead. Isaac Kobienia and Gino Lucia assisted on his goal. Andrew Troy was able to ice the game when he scored an empty net goal with just over a minute to goal in the game. Goaltender Jake Sibell had 29 saves in the victory.
