CLOQUET, MN – JANUARY 23rd – Fresh off a split with the Austin Bruins, the Minnesota Wilderness will host the Coulee Region Chill this coming weekend at Northwoods Credit Union Arena. The Wilderness are still in sole possession of 2nd place in the NAHL’s Central Division – as they continue to try to catch division leading Minot in search of their first ever regular season division championship. The Wilderness have won one division playoff championship back in 2015, the season they went on to win the Robertson Cup National Championship.
Head Coach Tim Madsen: “Our staff was really proud with the effort on Saturday in front of a great crowd at Northwoods Credit Union Arena. Our passion and work ethic was exceptional after a disappointing loss the night before. We have to continue to push each other to get better and better every day down the stretch, so that we are playing our best hockey of the season come playoff time. This team can be as good as they want to be.”
Game Time Change: This Friday, January 27th, the Wilderness game will be at 6:00pm instead of the traditional 7:05pm start. The game on Saturday, January 28th, will go back to the standard 7:05pm start.
Homecoming: Former Duluth-East standout defenseman, Shay Donovan will be making his first appearance at Northwoods Credit Union Arena as a junior hockey player, as he is a member of the Coulee Region Chill. Donovan has played in 31 games this season, accumulating 2 goals and 8 assists for 10 points. Donovan will be competing against four former teammates, who currently play for the Wilderness. Luke Dow, Ryan Peterson, Ash Altmann, and Nick Altmann – all former Greyhounds, and teammates of Donovan, will be in the lineup Friday night as the Wilderness look to continue to climb the standings.
There will be a post-game “Skate with the Wilderness” Saturday night following the 3 Stars of the Game shirt toss. Discounted tickets for this weekend’s games are available at these ticket outlet sponsors: B&B Market, Super One Liquor, The Jack, and The Warming House (all in Cloquet, MN). Doors open at 5:00pm on Friday and 6:00pm on Saturday night vs Coulee Region.
