CLOQUET, MN – DECEMBER 12th 2016 – The Minnesota Wilderness are happy to announce they have agreed to an affiliation agreement with local Cloquet-Esko-Carlton senior hockey forward Dylan Johnson. Johnson, who is currently the second leading scorer for the Lumberjacks, is one of 6 players the Wilderness chose to affiliate with.
Being an affiliate player means that Johnson is allowed, per North American Hockey League rules, to join the Wilderness and play games once his high school hockey season is completed. The affiliation agreement does not guarantee the player will play games with the respective NAHL team, but should the team see fit given their teams’ status – at the conclusion of the player’s high school season, the player could indeed compete in league games.
Head Coach Tim Madsen, in his first season at the Wilderness Head Coach, says, “Dylan is a smart, 2-way forward with a high compete level. Our organization will always look to our own backyard for talent. Dylan attended our tryout camp last summer and made a great impression on the new coaching staff. He is off to a fantastic start for Cloquet-Esko-Carlton, and is very focused on helping his team to a very successful season. He is a driven player, and an important part of his high school team – which we believe will prepare him for the next level when that time comes.”
