Wilderness finish NAHL Showcase 3-1-0

Day 1:

MN Wilderness 2 vs. New Jersey 1 – Luke Kania made 39 saves to lead the Wilderness to a 2-1 win over the Titans on Wednesday. The Wilderness jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 1st period with a goal from Logan Stork. The lead increased to 2-0 late in the 2nd period for the Wilderness with a goal from Michael Zuffante. Kania’s shutout bid ended with just :19 seconds remaining in regulation as Anthony Cusanelli scored the lone goal for the Titans. Harrison Feeney made 36 saves in the loss.

Day 2:

Johnstown 3 vs. MN Wilderness 0 – Vinnie Purpura stopped all 22 shots that came his way as the Tomahawks moved to 2-0 at the Showcase and 4-0 overall with a 3-0 win over the Wilderness. The eventual game-winning goal came just :24 seconds into the game as Thomas Horn scored for the Tomahawks. Filips Buncis added the second goal later in the 1st period and Hayden Rowan added an empty-net goal late in the 3rd period. Luke Kania made 32 saves in the losing effort for the Wilderness.

Day 3:

MN Wilderness 6 vs. Topeka 2 – Trevor Micucci made 30 saves and six different players scored for the Wilderness in a 6-2 win over the RoadRunners. The Wilderness got a 1st period goal from Ryan Peterson, two goals in the 2nd period from Michael Zuffante and Tim Nicksic and three goals in the 3rd period from Luke Dow, Logan Stork and Alexander Esbjors. Topeka goals came from Jeff Makowski in the 1st period and Peyton Frantti in the 3rd period Ryan Snowden took the loss, making 24 saves.

Day 4:

MN Wilderness 3 vs. Kenai River 2  – The Wilderness finished off the Showcase with a 3-1 record thanks to a close 3-2 win over the Brown Bears, who fell to 0-3-1 at the event. The Wilderness opened up a 2-0 lead on goals from Tim Nicksic and Connor Koviak. The Brown Bears came back to tie the game at 2-2 thanks to tallies from Connor Inger and Chase Sriprijttichai. Later in the 3rd period, Nicksic scored the game-winner for his second goal of the night. Luke Kania made 39 saves in the win.
